Burlington, VT – ReSOURCE has been awarded a $15,000 grant by the NSB Foundation in support of its Efficacy Project to increase organizational efficiency and improve systems. In addition to the NSB Foundation, the project is funded in part by Jane’s Trust.
“By improving these systems, ReSOURCE will be able to find even more effective ways to increase reuse, decrease the volume of materials going to landfills, support more families in crisis, and sustain more of the costs of job skill training for our youth and adult trainees,” said Tom Longstreth, ReSOURCE Executive Director.
“Northfield Savings Bank and the NSB Foundation are pleased to partner with organizations like ReSOURCE,” noted Tom Pelletier, Northfield Savings Bank President and CEO. “This is an opportunity to help ReSOURCE increase its programming and fulfill its mission in ways which will benefit more Vermonters as well as help keep our communities green.”
In 1991, ReSOURCE opened its doors to create a space where materials could be reused and human dignity could be renewed. Since then, the organization has grown from a small shop that sold reused furniture and appliances to a multi-faceted organization with over 61 staff and four locations that create a marketplace for reuse while providing new opportunities to the under-skilled and long-term unemployed. In addition to providing goods and services at an affordable price to a wide demographic, ReSOURCE also uses its shops to provide job and life skills training to displaced persons and at-risk youth. ReSOURCE’s mission is to meet community and individual needs through (1) education and job skills training, (2) environmental stewardship, and (3) economic opportunities.
